Our SEO fellow Kevin Indig did a deep analysis on how competitors and winning through content marketing and getting their sites ranked higher in Google Search engine. He analyzed that how competitors are beating each other using keywords like "alternatives, versus" etc.

So the top three case studies are below to learn how you can beat your competitors using a smart content marketing strategy.

#1 - Wondershare Filmora
Filmora's direct competitor is Adobe Premier Pro, so they hit their competitor with a great observation. People often search about tutorials about Adobe Premier Pro. Adobe's online documentation is somehow weak and this is something Filmora realized so they started creating helpful articles for Adobe Premier Pro on their own site. This is very trick and smart way to attract your competitor's traffic and then give them a good treatment to convince them to try your product.

Their article "How to create split-screen in Adobe Pro” is ranking for over 160 keywords related to Adobe Pro. Filmora is ranking for many such keywords where Adobe should have been ranking. The article has zero backlinks yet standing great, which clearly reflects that your good content with zero backlinks can stand you out as well.

#2 - ConvertKit
ConvertKit is competitor of Mailchimp. They used a smart psychological approach. They wrote an article "5 Reasons You Should NOT Switch from Mailchimp to ConvertKit". This is pretty a risky idea however it worked for them. They basically delivered a message through their title that ConvertKit is for a specific audience and you might not come in that bracket. What they wrote in that article is good enough to convince someone to try ConvertKit.

#3 - Wistia
Wistia is a video marketing software for business and they see YouTube as their competitor. They also did a reverse psychological approach and wrote "Wistia v/s YouTube" article in their site that is ranked on many keywords. The title has a temptation that helps Wistia to attract users on their website.

These three competitors did a smart move. Worked pretty well to find the weak points of competitors and then materialized on them. You can also learn a lot from these quick case studies to generate some ideas to beat your competitors.
