I thought this was very interesting and goes with what we teach in our courses. While SEO is important, I believe it should only be a piece of a broader strategy.

This if from Stacked Newsletter

Back in the “good old days,” content marketing was fairly simple.

You could search for high-volume, high-intent keywords that aren’t difficult to rank for, create awesome content—and voila! You get users to your website organically.

But as Amanada Natividad correctly points out, users look for content in a bunch of different ways: YouTube, social media, etc.

Oh, and did you know that many popular TikTokers also run a blog?

For that reason, Amanda recommends developing a new, improved, modern content marketing strategy, one that:

  • Is informed by audience research and not keywords research.
  • Is distributed mainly on social media and not that reliant on SEO.
  • Satisfies the overall audience need and not a search query.
  • Relies on audience and social media algorithms instead of search engine algorithms.
  • Provides more subjective value to your brand.
Of course, you don’t have to choose either/or.

Your current content strategy can work hand in hand with an updated one. In fact, knowing how to combine them properly is ideal.

But to be good in content marketing today, you need impeccable audience research skills, and the ability to integrate your audience with the content you produce.

For example, if a new trend emerges, don’t try to explain it or act like a subject expert. Instead, conduct surveys, research, and ask for your audience’s opinion.

Then share those findings across social media, create data charts, and videos, and let the content distribute itself organically.

Amanda goes more in-depth in her article. It’s definitely worth reading!

Thanks man. I'll check it out. I run an SEO agency, and am seeking other traffic channels to run traffic to my clients. One of my colleagues said somethin to me recently that hit like a ton of bricks:

"Ask a Gen Z or Millennial what their favorite blog is."

There isn't one. It's all apps. :-(

Joey, do you have a solid recommendation for client services (lawyers in particular) -- a good traffic channel for me to look into as a supplement at least?

I know lots of people are running legal offers on Facebook. Maybe you could try there if there is a specific audience you are trying to reach.

Joey, where can I find information / instruction on how to run legal stuff on FB? I think I know what you are talking about. I've heard of guys running Mass Tort (PPCall) on there successfully but I'm not familiar with their strategies.

I would check Facebook Ad library and search for companies similar to yours and see what types of ads they are running. The ad library is basically the spy tool....you could also search youtube on how to run legal offers. Honestly I think this would be the best way to find the details you need then start to reverse engineer. There is likely no "specific guide".
