Here is the truth of the matter… blogging just isn’t for everybody. It’s “easy” from a technical aspect but it’s hard work in that you need to be consistent to see any significant results from all your hard work. True, you can hire writers if you wish to (and there is certainly nothing wrong with that) but if that’s the direction you wish to take things then you’ll be approaching blogging from a different business model perspective which is not what we’re covering here.
Regularly Scheduled Program
Writing a good blog post can spark interest in your readers. You need to produce content at a regular enough schedule that your loyal reader-base will have something to rely on when they wish to come back to your blog to “catch up” on the latest post or article produced by you. Doing this ensures that things work more smoothly and there’s a higher chance on those days you’re known to produce new stuff there may be a small influx of traffic… not always but if you happen to make regular announcements this could be the case.
Once your blog has carved out it’s own space within your chosen niche you will find that people might begin to reach out to you for various things. This of course depends on if you happen to keep it regularly updated, produce at least decent content and make your brand (if you wish to create one) seem friendly and approachable. Every niche is different, every aspect will have variations on how they should be handled but the overall concept will always be the same. Your blog should feel like a source of solid information as well as a place where your readers can feel welcome to visit and those who also happen to be in the same industry as you can approach you for partnerships and networking. One of the most powerful things you could possibly do for yourself is network with others who you can find a mutual business relationship with.
A Reasonable Blogging Schedule
If you’re blogging you probably rely on SEO to some extent and keeping a regular schedule helps with that. If you keep a regular posting schedule you stand a good chance of seeing much more steady traffic… somewhere to the tune of 25% or more vs. not keeping a regular posting schedule. Luckily SEO isn’t the only way to get traffic to your blog (as was discussed in part 2 of this 3 part series) but it certainly helps a lot.
Think about this for a moment… writer’s block is a thing and it plagues us all. How much easier would it make your life if you could just sit down one day and plot out a bunch of topics for the entire month, put them on a calender or something and then use that as your guide to research material and finally write those articles as needed. It makes things a lot easier, trust me on this one coming from a blogger himself!
How frequent should you post, what should your schedule actually look like? Well, it depends on you really:
- What can you keep up with?
- How long does it take you to research and then write an article?
- Can you keep up with your schedule without burning out?
- How much time do you need between posts to allow them to rank from SEO?
- How long do you wish to give readers time to interact with posts until the next?
- Literally anything else you can think of which requires time.
Let’s say for example you rely on social media to garner traffic. How much time seems effective to let people retweet your stuff? What about Facebook engagements and possibly other sources of traffic, it all adds up and it all takes some amount of time. You aren’t expected to know this upfront and honestly nobody can outright tell you how long to expect these things to take… it’s trial and error and just doing it for yourself and collecting data over time.
Let’s Talk PAID Traffic
You are not restricted to only free traffic. Sure it’s the cheapest way and a very good way to start but after you have been doing this a while you will discover that you’ll know how much you average in revenue per month and can then come up with a paid traffic strategy to really ramp things up.
Your blog should already be making you some form of revenue before you jump into paid traffic because things can get expensive quick if you don’t already have something in place to offset your ad-costs. This is something we teach in our affiliate training program, the subject of paid traffic and how to do it right… but for now it’s not the focus. It’s more just something to keep in mind until you’re ready for it.
Build An Email List!
I can’t stress this enough but if you’re not building a list then you are missing out on a massive opportunity to control your own source of traffic. There are so many ways to do this and for various reasons such as:
- Simply getting more regular traffic flowing to your blog
- Promoting various offers as an affiliate
- Starting a Newsletter (which could be used to strike up deals with advertisers)
- Basically anything you can think of to help monetize your list in an ethical way.
I just had to throw this in the mix, having a list of subscribers is a powerful thing so don’t pass this one up no matter what, you should always be working on building a list if you’re going into business.
How To Schedule WordPress Posts
It’s honestly really simple to do this manually… there are plugins which allow you to do this a bit more hands-off but we’ll leave that up to you to discover since it’s so easy to do this the default way.
Writing a good blog post, this will take however long it takes… something to consider is that you’re not bound to ONLY long-form articles such as the one you’re reading right now, this is just the style of blog we prefer here. You can do anything you like!
- Videos with a blurb to introduce it
- Resource / Link roundups (collecting helpful resources and sharing inside a list)
- Interviews of others in your market/niche
- A good old fashioned podcast! (This can be video or audio)
- Infographics or Slideshow presentations
There’s no limit to what you choose to do with your blog, it’s yours after all. You can mix and match different elements for best results or stick with a certain form factor and just go with that, it’s all up to you and what you want to accomplish with your blog’s results.
So… as I was saying.
Create your blog and when it’s ready to post simply change the date & time through the “publish” feature on the right-hand-side of the post page withing your WordPress Dashboard.
Change the date to whatever you wish as illustrated below then click “ok”…
Then simply click the button which should now say “schedule” instead of “post”.
It’s honestly just as simple as that. Doing things this way will allow you to “set & forget” your blogs once they are written. This method of scheduling posts is best suited for when you have an actual schedule produced which you can track things on. You’ll be able to Mark down what day a particular post is meant to go out, what the name of that post is and anything else you consider important for your records to keep track.
Alternatively you can just write up a bunch of posts and let them sit in “draft” mode so they’re ready to launch at a moment’s notice by just clicking that ‘publish’ button and making them go live. This is a much more relaxed way of doing things and it works well for many… just keep in mind it’s also easy to let many posts build up and some may become “old news” if you let them sit for too long depending on your niche market.
Blogging is still very much alive and well. For however long people will continue to learn the skill of reading and writing blogging will remain relevant and anyone who says different simply doesn’t understand how to do it or they want you to think blogging is dead for some reason… don’t let them fool you.

You’re in a scramble and can’t come up with anymore blog ideas that make money. Perhaps you’re just getting started with blogging and you need to brainstorm a ton of ideas related to things you know nothing about, or maybe you just want to jump into your niche head-first and swim around for what your target audience is actually interested. These places we’re about to hand over to you are going to be an excellent collection of resources and start your blogging business, let’s get started.
Write Your Blogging Ideas Down
We’ll start here just for the simple fact that you might not know anything about the topic you’re researching. If that’s the case then you can’t really search that brain of yours for very much information and you may as well skip over this step.
However, if you do know the subject well enough to at least formulate ideas for further research then write them down! Hit Google searching for different keywords and discover the suggested, related search terms and write those down also. You have options here and they are all extremely low tech and simple.
The Feedly website is basically a searchable hub or database of many different blogs all in one place. You can perform searches using a number of different filters and dig down to the best of the best in your own related niche and markets.
Find out what’s working best for your competition by discovering their popularity points and this can not only be done for different blogs but you can even see which particular articles are working the best on various websites, that’s a powerful thing.
This tool called AnswerThePublic can probably do the bulk of your idea-searching for you, all you need is a keyword that’s closely related to any niche you want, search for it and then this thing will come back with so many possibilities it could very well make your eyes spin in your head.
It’ll bring back related searchterms, alternative search terms, terms which are broken up into logical search-based categories and way more than I can list here. There are both pro features and free features and the option to use either one is totally up to you and your requirements from the tool. You won’t get any search volume data but there is another site called SearchVolume which you can plug any of the keywords found into and get your results that way.
Welcome to the front page of the Internet, Reddit.com. I don’t think this website requires any real introduction for most of us but in case you’re not yet familiar think of Reddit as an info hub that millions upon millions of folks visit daily. It’s broken up into different sections called “subreddits” and more subreddits are constantly being created and populated by interested readers.
Using it is easy, just search for a keyword then look around the page for all the possible, clickable links. Some will lead you to content while others will lead you even deeper down the rabbit hole. Some subreddits will require you to subscribe to them in order to view their content, if you don’t want to do this then just move on to another subreddit which is related… there are practically an endless amount of them out there.
Here’s another big brand in the game, Pinterest and it’s a great resource for finding ideas you may not find anywhere else. Depending on the niche you’re involved with you could discover Pinterest to be a potential goldmine of blog ideas that make money.
Pinterest is a very media-heavy site which is full of beautiful images for just about any topic you can think of. The site operates on a principal known as ‘pins’ which are what you will be browsing through. These pins contain just a little blurb of information about whatever the pinner wants and often times a link pointing back to some website they want you to visit. It’s possible to use Pinterest to also get traffic back to your blog if you can put in the additional work but that method of traffic is far outside the scope of this article.

Known as the largest video sharing website on the planet, there’s no shortage of ideas you can mine for on this platform. With it’s suggested video feature you’re going to have a constant stream of more ideas to browse through. With the added bonus of these all being videos, if you’re producing written content it’s a great way to hunt for ideas to then convert from one medium (video) and turn it into another (written) thus giving you a fresh spin from what’s already out there.
The BuzzSumo website is a pretty well known ‘secret’ for finding killer content to draw inspiration from. Much like with Feedly.com which was covered earlier, you can search for content that’s already proven to perform well. You’ve got different filters to work with and you can discover signals from all the main social sites across the board in an effort to only see the best and top performing content out there for your chosen search range.
This is a premium service which offers a slew of helpful tools and if you were to use nothing else but this and good old fashioned Google tools such as the search and keyword tools you’d have everything you need to go pretty far.
The Simple Conclusion

It takes some time, sure. It also takes a bit of ‘getting used to’ the process of hunting for new ideas and topics to cover for your content but after only a few hours with this stuff you might find yourself getting very quick and efficient with the entire process. It’s the whole concept that “content is king” which drives the success of many blogs and websites so finding what people want to read and what they’re actually looking for is always going to be a vital step in the entire process.

When paying for readers, which is basically what this is all about, you need to be sure your aiming for the right targets. The two primary goals in this case should be to:
- Increase your reader base to draw more returning visitors.
- Boost your overall engagement with the blog or website, like sharing and commenting.
In order to hit your targets a few things need to be in place not only with your ads themselves, that is the technical aspects such as ad-spend, demographic targeting and etc which is outside the scope of this article but still important enough to mention. But, also, the content of your ads must hit their mark and that’s only perfected through testing.
Listicles in Advertising
These became popular years ago as of the writing of this article and they’re still a popular format for articles which aim to produce a lot of perceived value with minimal filler.
A “listicle” is usually done to cover a single subject in bullet point format. You’ll pick something to cover which relates to, or is directly associated with your offer and then write something to the effect of “7 Stunning Benefits of blah blah blah” (you get the idea).
Jump on Trending Events
Though trends tend to live short lives and burnout quickly, if you jump on them as they’re on the up-trend or even at their peak you can see a nice spike of traffic very quickly. This is a strategy all to itself which can be repeated daily if you’re willing to put the effort into it.

Poke Emotions & Promote Thought
Most people don’t interact with things they’re shown online unless it invokes some type of emotional response within the first few seconds of seeing it. What this means is that you have just that long to capture their attention and make them feel something strong enough to want to investigate more.
A great way to get inspiration for this is to check on trending pages and scan the titles of articles there as well and scanning through posts on Facebook and Twitter for the like. It’s vital for anything on the internet which is looking for attention to use provocation to tease readers into wanting to read more and interact with the post.
Getting Your Title Right
Sure, the actual ad itself is going to have it’s own text aside from the article and it should resemble, if not exactly copy the title of your article word for word. This means your titles should be short but impactful. The fewer words you can use while still poking that curiosity, the better off you’ll be. This means you need to leverage things like offering advice for your readers to walk away with, point them in the right direction for additional resources if it helps your cause (this will usually be whatever you’re offering) or you can list facts and figures in the case of listicles.
Getting The Images Right
This is extremely important in both your article and ads. We can’t help but be drawn to pictures and videos and when they’re interesting, funny or weird they’re going to have that much more impact on the people viewing your pages.
All images have to be relevant to the topic at hand but not necessarily exactly related. Impactful visuals, stuff that makes you want to take a second glance or just make you go “what the heck is that?” will all work well for your ads. In the articles, you need to pick images that are identifiable to the paragraph in which they’re showing up. Keep them closely related to the immediate idea and take care not to use pictures that are going to draw the readers focus too far away because you want them to keep reading.
Faces and Close-Ups
It’s ingrained in us as people to be drawn to faces so when you select pictures which feature faces you’re almost guaranteed to capture attention right away. There’s evidence to suggest that faces of babies and attractive women will garner the most attention so it’s worth testing out in the event you can make it work for your cause. Sometimes it makes no sense at all to use a face, in that case just don’t do it, pick something that is going to make sense for your ads and articles.
Keep It Simple Yet Effective
You want flashy images where it makes sense and simplicity where it’s needed. Every offer is going to need it’s own special attention and some testing will be necessary to get this right in most cases. It’s going to require you to set a budget aside to see what is working and what isn’t. Use simple banners which don’t look cluttered but still convey the right information. Don’t overload your images with so much that the eye doesn’t know what to focus on, have a focus point and put something important there like a call to action.
