Often times you’ll hear about wordcount and how it should be somewhere between 1,000 words to 2,000 words for optimal results. Though this can be true in many cases, it seems only to really matter in cases where it makes sense to have that many words. Sometimes you just can’t stuff that many words into a single article and still have it make sense so don’t worry too much if this is the case for you… just find a related YouTube video you can embed to accompany your article and put that somewhere directly below the text, or you can even place it directly in the middle if it fits right and makes sense.
Off-Page SEO: is where things like link-building and social signals come into play. Though there are different methods to accomplish this, and some of them are a bit on the questionable side, we’ll stick to a few basic ways to get this done.
Creating buzz around your new article or post of your business is one of the best ways to get natural links back to your webpage. Doing this on social media can help a lot of the time when you are able to find people, groups and pages which are already discussing topics related to your own post. Interjecting a helpful piece of advice, or in some cases just passing off a link to your post suggesting that it’s got the answer to the topic or discussion at hand is all it takes. You could seek out other websites which have related subject matter and a comment section, leave your own input and cap it off with a link to your own article or page. Though this specific method doesn’t have a 100% track record of success in your links sticking, if you do it right and provide value in your comment you stand about a 30% to 75% chance of your comments getting approved by that website’s moderator and your link sticking with it.
You could also guest post on other blogs, writing articles for other websites in exchange for the ability to leave a link after your post can do big things in the long term. Dropping links on other sites such as reddit, twitter, and a number of related forums can all help in small ways to build up that backlink profile of yours. There are of course “black hat or gray hat” methods which work, but always leave you in jeopardy as search engines are always playing a game of cat & mouse to subdue these types of links and render them useless. How you choose to get your backlinks is completely up to you, white hat or black hate, it’s your choice.
The term “content marketing” means just what it implies, marketing to your target audience with your content. This can be anything from blog posts to videos, infographics to check lists, it really doesn’t matter so long as the content itself is valuable and something that people will actually want to look at and hopefully pass along to their peers.
